How to Get A Job Right After Pursuing An MBA in Ghana

A major question many MBA graduate ask is: how to get employment after MBA? As easy as the question looks, it is not that simple as it looks.
A question which needs to be asked is one’s expectation after MBA. What do you want to achieve after MBA? Knowing this already answers a part of the puzzle. What affects many people is the thought that many have that after completing an MBA, one’s prospects for a employment increases. So instead of looking for a small start, they expect a bigger start which makes them unemployed for years.
Well, as easy as it is to say, many Ghanaians do not accept this reality. As the saying goes”All fingers are not the same”, many people might get employed immediately through good contacts, many others would also get average jobs whilst those waiting for big starts would remain without a job.
However, there are ways which can be adopted to improve one’s chances of getting a good job. Keep reading for some tips.
Effectively Utilize your references
The references from people you know can give you a head start when looking for employment. You must know that using references is the most effective way when seeking for  job opportunity. It would be good if you can make enquires on openings in companies through friends, relatives and even school mates who are employed.

Make your expectatons clear

Even before completing an MBA, make your expectations clear. You can ask yourself questions like; What business sector would I want to go to? What special skill or talent do I have ? How much would  get paid on start ? Upon which term would my position and salary change ? Clear your thoughts and you should be able to pass all interviews after.

Participate in an internship program

Internships are very important when seeking for employment. Internships can be done in about all companies. Try and have your internship in a promising company.  Work as hard as possible so that you may even get an opportunity to be recruited into the company after the internship program.

Begin searching for employment, about 6 months before your MBA ends

Most MBA programs last for about 2 years depending on the time taken to complete the research work. It would however be a good idea to start searching for jobs after three quarters of your term. Starting early would give you the opportunity of going through several interviews even before you complete. Hopefully you can get employed during those interviews. Even if you don’t get employment, it trains you so that you can master the art of taking interviews after your MBA.
